چکیده

In this letter, coherent detection of π 4 -DE-QPSK is considered, but our analysis also holds for common DEQPSK. It is shown that maximum a-posteriori (MAP) sequence detection can be regarded as an approximation, based on selecting dominant exponentials, of MAP symbol detection. A better approximation, relying on piecewise-linear fitting of the logarithm of the hyperbolic cosine, is proposed. This approximation results in a performance very close to optimal symbol detection. For the case where the symbols are produced by convolutional encoding and Gray mapping, the log-likelihood ratios are investigated. Again a simple approximation based on selecting dominant exponentials and an improved approximation relying on piecewise-linear fits, are discussed. As in the uncoded case the improved approximation gives a performance quite close to ideal. While the particular examples considered show modest gains in performance, this letter provides a way of improving performance when needed.

Extraction of Soft Bit Information with the Use of M-ary Modulation

We investigate an M-ary modulation scheme and present an extension of the demodulation process. Instead of a simple symbol decision the a-posteriori symbol-probabilities for all hypotheses of transmitted symbols are calculated. Each symbol represents a group of log 2 (M) bits. This symbol probabilities are mapped for each bit individually into a-posteriori probabilities of the bits in the maxim...

Qpsk, Oqpsk, Cpm Probability of Error for Awgn and Flat Fading Channels [4]

This article discusses QPSK, OQPSK, π/4 DQPSK and the trade offs involved. Later we discuss various CPM schemes and their relative bandwidth efficiencies. Probability of Bit error is discussed for various schemes assuming an AWGN channel. A model is devised, ignoring any changes in phase, to determine the error probabilities for flat fading channels. The article ends with a brief discussion of ...

استخراج ویژگیهای نوین برای طبقه بندی مدولاسیون با استفاده از یک دمدولاتور 8PSK

In this paper a feature-based modulation classification algorithm is developed for discriminating PSK signals. The candidate modulation types are assumed to be QPSK, OQPSK, π/4 DQOSK and 8PSK. The proposed method applies an 8PSK baseband demodulator in order to extract required features from observed symbols. The received signal with unknown modulation type is demodulated by an 8PSK demodulator...

Computation of Symbol-Wise Mutual Information in Transmis- sion Systems with LogAPP Decoders and Application to EXIT Charts

The symbol-wise mutual information between the binary inputs of a channel encoder and the soft-outputs of a LogAPP decoder, i.e., the a-posteriori log-likelihood ratios (LLRs), is analyzed. This mutual information can be expressed as the expectation of a function of solely the absolute values of the a-posteriori LLRs. This result provides a simple and elegant method for computing the mutual inf...
